Giarai Tomb Sculptures

At the Ethnology Museum, Hanoi (shot Feb.17,2006)
Carved by five Giarai Arap villagers in 1998 from tree trunks using adzes, cutlasses and knives. Carvings are of sexually-explicit men and women and pregnant women to symbolize fertility and birth..after the tomb is completed and a ceremony preformed it is abandoned to “fall to pieces” Here are a few close-up pictures that seem to have an inner life to me.
